Who We Are

Correctional medicine is a rewarding career choice and an opportunity to treat some of the most vulnerable members of the community.

Correctional Medicine Associates, P.C. (CMA) is a physician-owned professional corporation that hires, supports and monitors licensed independent medical and mental health providers for many CoreCivic facilities. CoreCivic is the owner and/or operator of dozens of jails, prisons, and residential re-entry facilities throughout the United States. Many CoreCivic facilities need physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, psychiatrists, and psychologists. CMA hires and supports these professional providers. Our sister organization, Correctional Dental Associates, does the same for our dental colleagues. Our payroll, human resources, and benefits packages are provided/managed by LBMC Partners.

Since CMA operates in CoreCivic facilities, the policies and procedures of both organizations are followed by all of our providers. The health services administrator (HSA) of the facility is the administrative supervisor. They are responsible for provider’s schedules, patient access, and working environment, including personnel issues such as time off requests. The regional medical director (RMD) for each facility is the clinical supervisor of all our medical providers. The RMD is responsible for utilization management, clinical questions, and consultation.
